Gratz Pricing Philosophy
When you choose Gratz Pilates, you’re investing in equipment designed to last, elevate your practice, and support your studio for years to come.
Transparent Pricing
At Gratz, we’re committed to transparency and fairness in all aspects of our business, including pricing. Our prices reflect the craftsmanship, materials, and precision that go into every piece of equipment, as well as our commitment to providing the highest-quality Pilates apparatus available.
To ensure our pricing aligns with the value we provide and the costs of maintaining quality standards, we periodically review and adjust pricing when necessary. This allows us to sustain and grow our business in a way that continues to support our customers now and in the future.
Key Elements of Pricing: Craftsmanship & Materials
Gratz apparatus are handmade with a focus on durability, precision, and long-term studio use. The materials used in each piece influence both how the apparatus performs and the level of craftsmanship required to produce it.
Maple wood frames, used in apparatus such as Reformers, Ladder Barrels, and Wunda Chairs, are crafted from solid furniture-grade hardwood selected for strength, stability, and longevity. Each frame carries its own natural grain and is individually shaped, sanded, assembled, and finished by hand. This meticulous process requires significant time and woodworking skill, making maple frames more expensive than their aluminum counterparts.
Aluminum frames, used in apparatus such as Cadillacs, Reformers, and Guillotines, are produced through precision metal fabrication and skilled welding. This creates a durable and consistent structure while maintaining the same functional performance standards expected of Gratz apparatus.
Because these materials require different manufacturing processes and levels of hand craftsmanship, frame material becomes one of the most significant factors influencing the production cost of a Reformer and Cadillac.
Applying This Approach to Reformer Pricing
Over time, the Gratz Reformer collection expanded to include multiple models (Universal, Archive), lengths (80”, 86”, 89”), and frame types (maple, aluminum). This expansion allowed studios to choose equipment tailored to their needs, but it also resulted in a pricing structure with multiple variations depending on configuration.
While this approach reflected the evolution of the product collection, it also created complexity that made pricing less straightforward.
As part of our commitment to transparency and simplicity, we simplified the Reformer pricing structure, from multiple price points down to two, allowing studios and instructors to select the setup that best fits their clients’ bodies, teaching style, and studio environment.
Length and model type no longer affect Gratz Reformer pricing. The only pricing difference reflects the frame material, with maple wood frames priced higher to account for the additional time and cost required to produce them.
Advance Notice on Price Changes
Whenever a price change is planned for a product, we will clearly post a 30-day advance notice on the product page. This gives customers time to plan and make informed decisions.
We understand that it can take time to finalize an order. Estimates are valid for 60 days, and if the price of a product changes during this period, your estimate will not change.
