Art and Science of Contrology® Pilates Instructor Training (ASCPIT®) A Second-Generation Classical Pilates teacher certified since 1993, Simona studied extensively under Romana Kryzanowska at Drago’s Gym in New York City, where she taught alongside Romana for many years and developed a deep understanding of the traditional Pilates method.

Originally from Italy, Simona began her professional dance career at the age of fourteen and went on to perform throughout Europe and the United States for more than four decades. Her extensive background in dance, movement, rehabilitation, and body mechanics continues to shape her approach to teaching and her understanding of how the Pilates method can support long-term health and functional movement.

For more than 30 years, Simona has led The Art of Control with a clear mission: to preserve and advance the authentic Contrology system through precise, progressive, and efficient movement. Under her leadership, the studio has become a respected center for Classical Pilates education, emphasizing individualized instruction, authentic apparatus work, and the careful progression that allows clients and teachers alike to develop a deeper awareness and mastery of their own bodies.

Throughout her career, Simona has traveled internationally teaching Pilates seminars, workshops, and continuing education programs throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She has served as Chair of the Annual Pilates Conference at the State University of New York at Purchase College and has been invited to present at numerous educational, movement, and wellness conferences around the world.

As creator of The Art and Science of Contrology® certification program, Simona has combined the principles of Classical Pilates with movement science and therapeutic practices while remaining true to Joseph Pilates’ original intentions for the work. The comprehensive training program, which has been integrated into coursework at SUNY Purchase College and taught internationally, has educated and mentored generations of Pilates instructors. Through ASCPIT®, Simona continues to uphold rigorous standards in Pilates education while preparing teachers to work confidently with a wide range of clients and movement needs.

In addition to her work in Pilates education, Simona is a licensed massage therapist, Feldenkrais-trained practitioner, and advocate for the integration of movement science and mindful movement practices. She has served on sports massage teams for international athletic events, including the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino.

Today, Simona continues to teach, mentor, and inspire students and teachers around the world while championing the preservation and advancement of Joseph Pilates’ original work. Reflecting on her decades of teaching, she shares, "I work with people from all walks of life who want to learn how to look after their bodies. I help them feel better, more confident, and more fulfilled in everyday life." This philosophy continues to guide her work and her commitment to helping individuals move with greater strength, confidence, awareness, and longevity.
