Simona Cipriani is the owner of The Art of Control and Educational Director of The Art and Science of Contrology-Pilates Training Program. A Second Generation Classical Pilates instructor certified since 1993, Simona studied extensively under Romana Kryzanowska at Drago’s Gym in New York City, where she taught alongside Romana for many years.
Originally from Italy, Simona began her professional dance career at the age of fourteen and went on to perform throughout Europe and the United States for more than four decades. Her extensive background in dance, movement, and rehabilitation deeply informs her teaching approach and understanding of the Pilates method.
Over the course of her career, Simona has traveled internationally teaching Pilates seminars, workshops, and continuing education programs throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She has also served as chair of the annual Pilates Conference at the State University of New York at Purchase College and has been invited to present at numerous educational and wellness conferences worldwide.
Through The Art and Science of Contrology certification program, Simona combines Classical Pilates with movement science and therapeutic principles in a way that reflects Joseph Pilates’ original intentions for the method. Her program has been integrated into coursework at SUNY Purchase College and has helped educate and mentor generations of Pilates instructors.
In addition to her work in Pilates education, Simona is also a licensed massage therapist and has served on sports massage teams for international athletic events, including the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino. Today, she continues to teach, mentor, and advocate for the preservation and advancement of the authentic Pilates method worldwide.
