January 31, 2026
Throughout January, the Reformer Box became a lens for discovery by guiding teachers and practitioners to find new layers of control, lift, and awareness throughout different series.
The Reformer Box refines how the body organizes and connects through movement. Its placement alters alignment and feedback, revealing new ways to strengthen the powerhouse and extend through the entire body.
Community Highlights
Throughout January, instructors, practitioners, and studios embraced the Reformer Box with creativity and intention, using it to refine balance, deepen core engagement, and reveal new insights into familiar sequences. From traditional Reformer repertoire to innovative integrations on Pilates Mat and Cadillac, the Reformer Box opened doors to both support and challenge.
Alia Staples highlights how the Reformer Box adds layers of control and feedback to traditional exercises. By elevating or repositioning the body, she reveals how small adjustments can deepen powerhouse engagement, refine alignment, and strengthen the mind and body connection.
Caroline Sampayo shared a thoughtful teacher-training tip for Tree on the Reformer Box. She begins with the strap slightly slack around the standing ankle and the foot fully dorsiflexed to prevent hanging into the strap, encouraging students to find lift through the spine, supported by the abdominals.
This blog explores how introducing the Reformer Box to Matwork invites a new sense of discovery. Each exercise demands heightened focus and control, teaching practitioners to find alignment from within. Movements become both corrective and expressive which offers a chance to deepen understanding of how strength and precision work together in Classical Pilates.
Rocío Menéndez showcased the versatility of the Reformer Box in a creative series of videos taking Classical Pilates exercises to new heights. From abdominal work that enhances hip openness to a Short Box series performed on the Long Box, and Stomach Massage variations that support upright posture, her sequences reveal how this small apparatus can expand the possibilities of classical work while maintaining precision and integrity.
Risa shares her personal journey with the Reformer Box, describing how the apparatus reshaped her understanding of alignment, control, and spatial awareness. Her reflections show how a simple elevation can become a profound teacher, deepening connection to classical principles and revealing pathways to more organized movement.
The Reformer Box can be used as an arm booster when a client’s arms don’t comfortably reach the floor. Elevating the hands preserves shoulder organization, maintains spinal integrity, and prevents strain through the low back and neck, a reminder that Classical apparatus supports correct movement, not forced depth.
Marta shows the Swan Dive on the Archive Reformer. She notes, "it’s a pleasure to do the Swan on this particular box because it’s not too soft and not too hard, so actually the exercise can be enjoyable".
February Spotlight: Foot Corrector

Photo Featured: Pilgrim Gym Pilates
This February, we’re highlighting an apparatus that reminds us strength begins from the ground up: the Foot Corrector. Designed to develop balance, stability, and alignment, this compact yet powerful piece of equipment reconnects practitioners to their foundation, the feet, and their integral relationship to the powerhouse.
The Foot Corrector provides immediate, tactile feedback. Each repetition encourages even weight distribution, engagement through the arches, and a steady line of energy up through the legs and into the core.
Instructors value the Foot Corrector for its precision and simplicity. Whether used to strengthen arches or enhance overall posture, it restores awareness to how movement is initiated and supported. Within the Classical Pilates system, it’s a small apparatus with far-reaching impact by cultivating strength, symmetry, and connection from the feet through the entire body.
We’re excited to see how you incorporate the Foot Corrector into your teaching this month. Tag @gratz_pilates to share your sessions we look forward to featuring your work throughout February.
